What is a Secret Shopper?
A Secret Shopper, or Mystery Shopper, visits stores, restaurants, and businesses to observe and evaluate the quality of a company's products and customer service. You act as a regular shopper to see how you are treated. It is 100% anonymous and the establishment will never know you are there as a secret shopper. After you complete an assignment, you must fill out a simple questionnaire that asks you questions about your experience. You return the questionnaire via email, fax, or postal mail to the company that gave you the job.

What are the qualifications to be a Secret Shopper?
None! Anyone can be a Secret Shopper. If you are honest and dependable, able to answer questions about the establishment you visited, along with the ability to visit various store and restaurant locations, you are just the type of person companies are looking for!

How much can I make or save?
How much you make depends on the number and types of shops you agree to take. The more you shop, the more you'll get paid. Most shoppers are paid an hourly wage of $10 - $40 per hour and are usually reimbursed for any purchases they are required to make. Therefore, payment may take the form of a cash payment for assignments performed, reimbursement for out-of-pocket dollars spent, or a combination of the two.

What are the assignments?
Each assignment has a specific set of guidelines and deadlines when performing and completing an assignment. An assignment could be purchasing an item in a department store, evaluating a restaurant, or an amusement park. You can accept or deny any assignment you choose! You are not obligated to shop where you don't want to.

Where do Secret Shoppers shop?
Some common industries would include: major department stores, restaurants, grocery stores, amusement parks, fast food establishments, and many more. Plus, they are all local to you, so you won't end up driving somewhere you don't want to. The possibilities are endless because all companies want evaluations of their customer service and products.

Is there work in my area?
The 200+ companies I have listed in my Pocket Guide are located nationwide, and work is available in every major city, as well as most surrounding cities. The more you apply, the better your options will be, and more assignments will be offered.

When do Secret Shoppers shop?
You choose the assignments and set your hours. Even if you work during the day you can always take assignments at night or just weekends! You can even work on vacation or when you travel. There are assignments all over the US, Canada, and even worldwide. There could be deadlines when performing and completing an assignment, so just choose the ones that fit within your schedule. Work as much or as little as you want! You are never obligated to take any assignment. You can pick and choose which ones are good for you.

Why would companies pay me to shop?
Companies need an honest opinion from real consumers to know if the stores and surrounding areas are clean, if the staff is helpful, the quality of their products and services, and if there is anything they can improve on. They need something a little more accurate than the "Suggestion Box" on the wall!
